Cricket

Cricket has a long history in Peper Harow and there is a contemporary record of a match going back to 1727 – surely one of the earliest to be reported. Rules were drawn up and written down; they are recorded here and make interesting reading.

Peper Harow CC leases the ground from the Fuller family who own the adjacent farm. They have four teams, the 1st XI, 2nd XI and 3rd XI play in the local I’Anson league on Saturdays, the latter playing their home fixtures at neighbouring Shackleford, and the Sunday XI play friendly village cricket.
