Garden Cottage

Garden Cottage, The Street

Garden Cottage, 1998

The house was built in the 1950s as a gardener’s bungalow for the small market garden owned by the Cook family of Dolphin House, who used it to supply their greengrocery shop in Godalming. The market garden was opposite, with a boiler house and glass-houses (which are still there, though derelict).

The previous occupier was Delphine Abbott, who lived here from 1976 until 2004. The present owners demolished the bungalow and built a substantial house in its place in 2011-13; the photo above shows how it used to look and, below, an aerial view showing the greenhouses which were there at least until the 1990s.
