Cross Farm Cottages, centre, and The Coach House on the right. You can just see the old finger-post by the hedge. Here is Cross Farm on the left, Little Court and Coach House on the right, with Cross Farm Cottages in the distance and the entrance to Chalk Lane just visible on the right of centre. This view looks from the village centre towards Lombard Street the entrance to which is just visible on the left. Russell Hall, on the left, was Shackleford’s first dame school and takes its name from the drainage engineers who used the room when they were installing the drains at Hall Place and whose name can still be seen on the manhole covers.
